#01: What is the difference between a convection and infrared heating system?

Convection heaters heat the air, while infrared heaters heat all objects, people, animals and surfaces (floors, walls, furnishings, etc.) in the room. All objects, people, animals and surfaces absorb the heat, store it and release it evenly into the room. This creates a much more pleasant indoor climate, virtually no dust development and less dry air.

Other benefits mainly include:

  • Significantly lower acquisition costs (up to 70 percent - calculate here: Infrared heating calculator)
  • No hidden electricity costs for pumps, chimney sweeps or similar
  • No maintenance costs – our infrared heaters are completely maintenance-free
  • Reduced spatial requirements (slimline heating panels for wall and ceiling mounting)
  • Longer service life (see the long-term testing of DIGEL HEAT infrared heaters by TUV SÜD, which proves a possible service life of 125 years)
  • Easy self-assembly

#02: Does it make sense and is it environmentally friendly to heat with electricity?

Yes, with DIGEL HEAT infrared heaters, it makes perfect sense. Our nfrared heaters use up to three-quarters less electricity than night storage heaters. Other heating systems, such as pellet or oil heating, use only one third of the electricity of an infrared heating system, but with high costs for fossil fuels.

An infrared heating system in conjunction with a photovoltaic system or wind turbine is currently the most economical, clean and environmentally friendly heating solution in the industry.

#03: What are infrared rays?

Radiation is an electromagnetic wave. The increase in energy that a body experiences when it absorbs radiation causes its temperature to increase. But it also increases its emissions to the surrounding area. The absorbed energy is not only reflected, but also transferred as heat in the body and as disordered molecular movement. Emission, absorption and reflection of energy rays are properties of the surface temperatures and structure of the material.

#04: What is the difference between Infrared A, B, and C?

Infrared rays exist in three different sub-areas.

IR-C: The long-wave infrared C-rays in the range of over 3000 nm are emitted by many modern devices, such as our infrared heaters. Long-wave infrared C radiation is particularly suitable for heating living spaces.

IR-B: The medium wave infrared B radiation ( 1400 – 3000 nm), on the other hand, is often used for high-performance emitters the industrial sector. The rays penetrate deeper (up to 2 mm) into the skin and are sometimes also used in medical applications.

IR-A: A characteristic of short-wave infrared A radiation (780 – 1400 nm) is the very fast and strong heating of the irradiated surface. The rays penetrate the skin up to 5 mm. The typical uses are wellness areas and medical applications.

#05: Are infrared heaters a full-fledged heating system?

Yes, and the infrared heater doesn't have to hide from other heating systems! Right now you should be thinking about the future – we see infrared heating as a heating system of the future! It is only a matter of time before the situation with fossil fuels worsens and oil and gas prices continue to rise. With infrared heating, you rely on a heating system that can be operated more environmentally friendly than any other.

For infrared heaters, it is important to select a trusted installer and obtain comprehensive advice. We will be happy to assist you with advice and calculations, and you will benefit from our large network of certified partners.

Note: However, infrared heaters can also be used as auxiliary heating for your pellet, oil or gas heating. For example, an infrared heater in colder places in the house can work wonders.

#06: How many and which infrared heaters do I need for each room?

The number and wattage of the infrared heaters you need depends on the rooms you want to heat. To determine your heating needs, factors such as room size, space usage, and insulation are the main factors in the calculation. In addition, the climatic conditions at the site and the desired room temperature should also be included.

#07: Can the infrared heaters be printed with individual motifs?

Hochzeitsmotiv Infrarotheizung

Yes, our infrared picture heaters and infrared glass picture heaters can be printed with any motif. You can choose your desired motif and simply send it to us by e-mail at info@digel-heat.com. We will check the image for printability and then send you a print preview, which you can confirm if you like it.

The image processing and the creation of the preview is of course free of charge for you. For a perfect image result, we need a corresponding resolution of the image, e.g., 300 pixel/inch (dpi).

#08: What other additional costs should I expect?

Unlike conventional convection heaters, the DIGEL HEAT infrared heaters do not have any additional costs, such as electricity costs for the pump, maintenance costs for the burner, costs for the chimney sweep, etc. Our infrared heaters are completely maintenance-free!

#09: Is the mounting kit included?

Einfache Montage der Infrarotheizung

Our infrared heaters come with a complete mounting kit. The mounting set contains:

  • Installation instructions
  • 2 mounting brackets
  • 8 screws
  • 8 dowels

Assembly is as simple as possible, even untrained craftsmen. You only need a drill and spirit level for the assembly.

#10: Can you install heaters yourself?

Yes, our slimline infrared heaters are easy to install. An electrician is only necessary if the heaters are connected directly using a flush-mounted switch actuator. Please follow the directions in the assembly instructions when installing.

#11: How can the heaters be controlled?

There are no thermostats or other electronic control components installed in the heaters themselves. The main reason for this is that our infrared heaters have a much longer service life than the electronic parts. If a built-in electronic control part breaks down, the entire heating system would no longer work.

DIGEL HEAT offers you a wide range of control options, from simple plug-in thermostats to an intelligent Internet-enabled SmartHome solution, which allows you to control your heating system worldwide through the Internet, e.g., by smartphone.
